2012 CIVICUS World Assembly, Montreal
"The CIVICUS World Assembly, first held in 1995, is the premier global gathering of civil society, where CSOs and activists, and representatives of donors, governments, international institutions and businesses, come together to seek ways to strengthen the rights of citizens to exist, express and engage collectively.
Around 1,000 people, representing organisations and alliances large and small and Northern and Southern, and operating across the entire gamut of civil society experiences and territories, will attend the World Assembly to collectively start making sense of this changed world.
The 2012 World Assembly, which will once again be hosted by our partner, Institut du Nouveau Monde, will also mark the beginning of an innovative and ambitious process of convening and consulting to define a new, citizen-centred social contract.
We need people from all across civil society, in its broadest sense, to bring their collective energies to this opportunity. That means we need you. The CIVICUS World Assembly is organised for you. We look forward to hearing your voice in Montreal."
