Talk by Steven Guilbeault + Family farmer meet-and-greet, Lanaudière

Event date(s):
4 May, 2012 - 17:00 - 20:30

The Lanaudière action group, in partnership with the Collège Saint-Sacrement de Terrebonne, welcomes Steven Guilbeault, deputy executive director of Equiterre, for a talk on the green economy.

The evening will begin with a "5 à 7" where farmers from Equiterre's community supported agriculture (CSA) network will hold information booths to answer questions on this program which already feeds more than 300 families in the area. They will also be taking registration for the summer season of deliveries.

At 7 p.m., the administration of the Collège Saint-Sacrement and the student members of the school's environmental committee will explain the actions that the school, which recently received a UNESCO designation, has taken over recent years to become a leader in the teaching of sustainable development.

Then, as part of the Rio+20 series of travelling talks, there will be a free talk by Steven Guilbeault (in French only). He will address some of the latest issues affecting international negotiations regarding climate change. What lessons can be drawn from international climate talks? What can we expect from Rio+20? What is Canada's role in these negotiations? Is there a role for provinces or cities in these international talks?
