The most electric attraction at the Montreal Auto Show - Running Electric invites motorists to come test drive an electric car

Montreal, January 17, 2019 – More than 20 models of electric vehicles are being showcased at the 2020 Montreal Auto Show, which begins today, with around 10 available for test drive. Motorists can reserve a test drive over the next ten days through*, Équiterre’s informational campaign to encourage motorists to choose electric vehicles (EVs).

“While we encourage active or public transportation as much as possible, for those who do need a car on regular basis, electric cars help reduce emissions tremendously in Quebec, because they are powered by hydroelectricity, a renewable energy,” states Colleen Thorpe, Équiterre’s Executive Director. “With the transportation sector accounting for more than 40% of emissions in Quebec, there is a huge opportunity for emissions reductions as an increasing number of motorists are switching from gas-powered cars to electric.”

Breaking down the myths: Cost-efficient, practical and high performance

The additional cost remains a perceived barrier for many, but with the available government subsidies of up to $13,000, the cost of some electric cars is now on par with their gas-powered equivalents. Rebates are also provided for the purchase and installation of charging stations at homes, workplaces and multi-unit dwellings. This and much more information about EV performance, battery life and ease of use is outlined on, which features:
