Environmental organizations urge swift passage of amended climate bill through Parliament

Environmental organizations Climate Action Network-Réseau Action Climat (CAN-Rac), Ecojustice, Équiterre, David Suzuki Foundation (DSF) and West Coast Environmental Law Association (WCELA) urge the House of Commons and Senate to move swiftly to pass the Canadian Net-Zero Emissions Accountability Act (Bill C-12) before the summer recess.

For decades, Canada has failed to meet any of its climate targets. Bill C-12 marks an important step towards giving Canadians confidence that their governments will deliver on their climate promises. If adopted, this bill would mean that Canada joins leading countries in establishing a legislated governance framework that brings together its climate target-setting, planning and reporting processes.
