Montrealers using public transit in record numbers

Actu - Achalandage STM

Equiterre is pleased to learn that public transit in Montreal has reached a historic level of popularity.  With close to 296 million trips in the first nine months of the year, the Société de transport de Montréal (STM) can confirm a 4% increase in ridership compared with the same period in 2010, i.e., the equivalent of about 12 million trips.

The STM expects to surpass targets set by Quebec's Public Transit Policy to increase ridership by 8% between 2007 and 2012. If the current trend is maintained, service levels will increase by 25% and ridership by nearly 12%.
