METRO commits to buying local

Published on

Good news: in a bid to become a leader in promoting Quebec food products, Montreal-based supermarket chain METRO has adopted a new local purchasing policy, which will give more shelf space and improved visibility to food products from Quebec.

How does METRO plan to do this? In part, by giving preference to products bearing one of the two following labels:

  • Aliments du Québec
  • Aliments préparés au Québec

Kudos to METRO for this policy, which was developed in consultation with various groups, including Equiterre.
