Environment of primary importance to voters, survey finds

Published on

Although the televised debates in the provincial leadership campaign have yet to shed much light on environmental issues, a new Leger survey shows that Quebec voters are very concerned about the environment, and would like to see it become a central theme of this election.

  • 84% of the population believes that it is very or somewhat important that the parties put forward solutions to reduce our oil consumption.
  • 86% of the population finds that it very or fairly important for Quebec to invest more to become a leader in the green economy.
  • 81% of voters believe that investment in public transit is an important campaign issue.
  • Less than 4% of the population considers these issues to be not at all important.
