Montreal community groups announce a new contest to recognize the city's best traffic calming measures of the last two years.
Strategically placed flower pots, extended curbs, wider sidewalks... Do you know of a project that
- reduces traffic speed,
- discourages through traffic in a residential neighbourhood,
- reduces the risk of accidents,
- helps pedestrians, cyclists and motorists share space?
It could be a new or revamped bike path, a pedestrian-only street, a greening project...
Just make sure that the project organizers apply by September 26. (application form French only)
And let them know that there will be four different kinds of prizes, including one for measures that protect our most vulnerable citizens.
