En août 2017, Équiterre, la Fondation David Suzuki, l'Association Canadienne des Médecins pour l'Environnement, Environmental Defence et Prevent Cancer Now ont publié une lettre ouverte pour contester l'évaluation pleine de lacunes effectuée par Santé Canada, qui a mené à la ré-homologation du glyphosate au Canada à des fins de vente et d'utilisation. Rappelons que le glyphosate est le pesticide le plus utilisé au monde et a été classé par l’agence spécialisée dans la recherche sur le cancer de l'Organisation mondiale de la santé (OMS) comme cancérigène probable.
En juillet 2017, les organisations déposaient un avis d’opposition à la ministre de la Santé du Canada Jane Philpott, lui demandant de reconsidérer la décision de Santé Canada de reconduire l’usage de ce produit nocif au pays.
En octobre 2018, à la suite de la révélation des Monsanto Papers, les groupes ont renvoyé une lettre à la Ministre Glyphosate : Monsanto a manipulé la science - Équiterre demande le retrait de l’homologation du glyphosate au Canada et une commission d’examen indépendante.
Santé Canada a finalement répondu à l'avis d'objection en janvier 2019.

In August 2017, Équiterre, the David Suzuki Foundation, the Canadian Association of Physicians for the Environment, Environmental Defence and Prevent Cancer Now published an open letter to contest Health Canada’s flawed evaluation, which led in granting continued registration of products containing the pesticide glyphosate for sale and use in Canada. It may be recalled that glyphosate is the most used pesticed in the world and was categorized as a probable human carcinogen by the World Health Organization (WHO) agency specialized in cancer research.
A month earlier, the aforementioned groups filed a notice of objection to the previous Canadian Health Minister Jane Philpott, calling on her to reconsider Health Canada’s decision to grant continued registration of products containing the pesticide glyphosate for sale and use in Canada. The groups are calling for the Minister to set up an independent committee to assess the real risks of glyphosate under the Pest Control Products Act.
In October 2018, following the Monsanto Paper revelations, the groups sent a letter to the Minister of Health regarding glyphosate re-evaluation.
The answer from Health Canada to the Notice of objection sent in July 2017 was received in January 2019.
