Environmental crusader Tzeporah Berman coming to Montreal

Publié le

"The past one hundred years have been a frenzy of development and pollution. We've benefited in many ways, but we're starting to live the repercussions. It's as if we've thrown a massive party in our parents' house and have to clean up the mess in the living room before Mom and Dad get home – except in this case it's our grandchildren's house that we've completely trashed," writes Tzeporah Berman in her new book, This Crazy Time, which she will launch in Montreal on September 23. The topic: what we can do about climate change, beginning with how to approach politicians.

If Berman's bio is any indication, it promises to be an interesting evening:

  • in the '90s, she faced nearly 1000 criminal charges for her involvement in blockades to protect Canada's rainforest
  • she convinced Victoria's Secret to stop using paper from old-growth forests in its catalogue
  • the Utne Reader named her one of 50 Visionaries Who Are Changing Your World
  • the Royal BC Museum lists her as one of the 150 people who have changed the course of BC's history

Friday, September 23
