Canada’s Speech from the Throne and the environment: The Trudeau government must now deliver on its promises, says Équiterre

MONTREAL, September 23, 2020 - Équiterre will evaluate the environmental ambitions announced by the Trudeau government on Wednesday in its Speech from the Throne based on the concrete measures that will be put forward in the coming months.

“From an environmental standpoint, the Throne Speech outlines some good intentions: the promise of adopting a climate law, of developing zero emission mobility options and of positioning resilient agriculture as a key element to confront future crises. However, promises are not enough. The government will have to act on its intentions. It is in the execution of these measures that we will really be able to assess their value," declares Marc-André Viau, Équiterre’s Director of Government Relations.
