Fair trade: still relevant today?

Published on

Actu - Le commerce équitable : toujours d'actualité?

Laure Waridel will participate in a talk on fair trade to be held at the Centre for Sustainable Devlopment (better known by its official name, Maison du développement durable) as part of a lecture series celebrating Equiterre's 20th anniversary. (In French only.)

Ecosociologist Waridel will join a panel of experts that will include Dario Iezzoni, director of marketing and sales at Brûlerie Santropol, and Isabelle St-Germain, deputy director of Equiterre, both of whom helped pioneer fair trade in Quebec.

For more than 15 years, Equiterre has promoted fair trade as a means of allowing marginalized peasants and artisans to regain control of their destiny. This discussion panel will review the progress and challenges of this system.

When: Tuesday, May 21 from 12:15 p.m. to 1:15 p.m.

Where: Maison du développement durable
50 Ste-Catherine St. West, Montreal

RSVP: comm@lamdd.org

P.S. Did you know that Laure Waridel helped found Equiterre, which is celebrating its 20th anniversary this year? Check out some "blast from the past" photos on Facebook. (In French only).
