Other ways to eat local

Published on

Solution - Répertoire des circuits courts (vendeuse au marché)

Signing up for a basket of fresh fruit and vegetables from one of our family farmers is a good way to eat well, encourage local agriculture and reduce middlemen. But if, for some reason, that's not possible for you, don't despair: there are other options.

To make it easier for you, Equiterre has made an online directory, Manger local au Québec,* for Quebecers interested in learning about some of the other local food initiatives in their regions. It includes

  • public markets
  • online markets
  • solidarity markets
  • grocery stores and other organizations that deal directly with farmers

how to use the directory: A step-by-step guide

  1. Scroll down the Manger local au Québec page until you see a tan box.
  2. Choose your area from the "Emplacement" menu, e.g., Montréal, Estrie, Outaouais.
  3. In some cases, you will be asked to choose your neighbourhood, e.g., Baie d'Urfé, Beaconsfield.
  4. Choose a type of point of sale from the "Type de point de vente" menu.
  5. Click "Appliquer."

Not sure what some of the words mean? Here they are in English

  • Tout » All
  • Autres paniers de légumes » Other baskets of vegetables
  • Épiceries et commerces » Grocery stores and shops
  • Hôtels, restaurants et institutions publiques » Hotels, restaurants and public institutions
  • Marchés en ligne » Online markets

Bon appetit!
