Mission accomplished! Citizens and organizations from across Canada, including Équiterre, helped set up 100 town halls as part of the People’s Climate Plan, a civil society initiative to organize as many consultations as possible across the country. Encouraged by Minister of Environment and Climate Change Catherine McKenna, MPs all across Canada from the three main parties hosted public consultations in a number of federal ridings this summer. McKenna’s call followed last December’s Paris climate summit, where Canada formally committed to limiting the average global temperature rise to 1.5°C.
Your comments have been sent to the committees that are developing Canada’s Climate Plan. And Équiterre is being vigilant to ensure that the voices of citizens are well represented in Canada’s commitments. Stay tuned—Canada’s Climate Plan will be unveiled this autumn!
