The pupils at Saint Barthélemy primary school in Montreal grow their own organic veggies.

McGill University serves fruit and vegetables grown on its Macdonald campus.

Ross Memorial Hospital in Lindsay, Ontario "cooks patient meals from scratch using fresh, whole foods," instead of relying on a catering service.

Farm to Cafeteria Canada, an emerging national network that seeks to "increase access to fresh, locally and sustainably grown, nutritious, safe, and culturally appropriate foods in public agencies," now has a website that gives these kinds of local food programs the attention that they deserve.

Visit the site to:

  • post information about a local food program at a daycare, school or healthcare facility in your community
  • discover other local food programs at "places where we learn, work, are healed and play" across the country
  • tune in to the "Dig In" mini webinar series, to be offered on the 3rd Tuesday of each month at 3 p.m. EST

Equiterre is responsible for the Quebec arm of this network. Our first task is to compile a list of all the existing farm to cafeteria programs in the province. But we need your help to make sure that the rest of Canada hears about what's cooking in la belle province. Do you know of a program that we should be talking about? Visit Farm to Cafeteria Canada today to tell us about it.
