- Quebec ranks third, after Canada and the United States, in per capita energy consumption (1).
- The government adopted the Québec Energy Strategy, which targets an 11 TWh reduction by 2015 (the equivalent of one full year of electric heat for 550,000 households). The strategy also aims for a 10% reduction in the use of petroleum products over the same period.
- In 2008 and 2009, more than 13,000 Quebec households participated in the Rénoclimat program.
- Participants in the Rénoclimat/ecoENERGY program reduced their heating bills by an average of 25% – a savings of about $300 per year (2).
