Actu - Bruno Demers boursier Laure Waridel 2011

If you joined Equiterre in 2011, $1 of your membership went to the Laure Waridel student bursary for research on environmental and social action, an amount that was then matched by the Caisse d'économie Solidaire Desjardins, a Quebec-based credit union.

The $10,000 prize was awarded to Bruno Demers – an MA in sociology – for his project on recycled and reclaimed materials in construction.

Since realizing just how much waste is incurred during construction, Bruno has made it his mission to reduce construction waste in the city of Montreal. He used his prize to study examples of American community-based initiatives to curb waste in this sector.

Congratulations to Bruno from all of us at Equiterre!

And thank you to our members for supporting the environmental leaders of tomorrow.
