“Natural” gas is a fossil fuel mainly composed of methane (CH4). Its extraction, transport and combustion emit greenhouse gases in addition to having numerous impacts on biodiversity, water and air quality. Équiterre prefers to refer to this gas as “fossil gas” in order to better reflect its origin and its impacts.
