Montreal, august 27th, 2017 - Équiterre is pleased to learn that the National Energy Board (NEB) will evaluate, for the first time in its history, upstream as well as downstream greenhouse gas emissions (GHGs) emissions from the Energy East project. Furthermore, the NEB will analyse the impacts of Canadian oil demand on both provincial and federal climate change plans.
"This announcement is another nail in the coffin of Energy East" said Steven Guilbeault, principal director at Équiterre. "I cannot see how Energy East can survive a rigorous analysis of these criteria. We are witnessing the beginning of the end of the project" he added.
