Every year, May is dedicated to fair trade. Why have a fair trade month? To highlight the initiatives and measures put in place to improve international solidarity and foster greater respect for producing communities in the South. This annual celebration, established by the French Fair Trade Platform (PFCE) in the early 2000s, has become a time to actively promote fair trade. It’s also a month full of not to be missed events and activities.

Don’t miss: Launch of the Choisirequitable.org microsite

On May 4, Équiterre and the Association québécoise du commerce équitable [Quebec fair trade association] will be launching a new promotional campaign: Choisir équitable [Choose fair trade]. The main focus is a fair trade outlet directory, but it also includes short videos, concrete courses of action and a wealth of up to date information on the impacts of fair trade. You can browse the website at choisirequitable.org starting May 4.

One taste and you’ll be hooked!

A launch is cause for celebration! So on May 4 we’ll be in five Quebec cities to give people a chance to discover fair trade products. We’ll be giving away free samples from midday until we run out. Come and meet us at one of the locations below! As well as going home with one of the various fair-trade products available in Quebec, you can talk to us about the positive impacts of fair trade and get helpful tips for choosing fair trade every day.
