Équiterre Activities at the World Social Forum

This summer, a unique and ambitious event will be held for the first time in Montreal, and Équiterre will be participating enthusiastically!

August 9–14, downtown will be transformed to welcome the World Social Forum and thousands of participants from around the world. Here’s an overview of some of the activities Équiterre and its partners are organizing as part of the rich and varied programming.

Networking with Major Social and Environmental NGOs and Opening of Art Exhibition


Date and Time: August 10, 11:30 a.m.
Location: Centre for Sustainable Development atrium, 50 Ste-Catherine street, Montreal,QC, Canada
At this networking event, you’ll be able to find out more about the current and future projects of nine socially engaged organizations and talk to their representatives about the big issues of the moment. That will motivate the troops! At the same time, the official opening of Thomas Marcel Hurtut’s exhibition Coming Home? Portrait of Naraha Evacuees, an artistic and documentary project concerning the 2011 Japanese nuclear disaster. For more information.

Talk on Fair Trade: Contrasting Accounts by International Partners + Fashion Show: Celebrating the Creators of Ethical Fashion!

Key players in fair trade from several continents will be sharing their experiences and talking about the various possible forms of partnership. Their first-person accounts will tell you more about how fair trade works and the day-to-day aspects of such international partnerships. For more information.

Roundtable: “Cars As Solution to Climate and Injustice? Discussion on Electrification, the Sharing Economy, Microtransit and Driverless Cars”

Reconnecting Farmers and Consumers: Examples of Support Organizations

ÉCO2FEST

Éco2Fest is an innovation camp which will take place in Montreal from Tuesday, August 9th to Sunday, August 14th, 2016 during the World Social Forum and the ECOSPHERE Exhibition. This accelerator is intended for existing BtoC, prototypeable projects with a positive environmental impact. Come and take part to the Eco2Fest! Find the planning here.

Eco2Fest is an innovation camp which will take place in Montreal during the World Social Forum and the ECOSPHERE festival. Come discover and help five ecological entrepreneurs, which projects would be accelerated during the Eco2Fest. You’ll be able also to attend our citizen collaborative design workshops and conferences each afternoon. During the ECOSPHERE week-end festival, an exhibition will be organized at the same place with each accelerated project.
