For the first time, our I get around...my neighbourhood! campaign, which promotes public transit, active transportation and local shopping to citizens, businesses and elected officials for healthy, economically vibrant communities, has been applied to an entire city: Joliette, Quebec, where the newly redesigned downtown features less space for cars and more for pedestrians. This goal of this pilot project?
- make it easier for this campaign to be adapted to other cities of similar size
- show that it's possible to break free from "all car, all the time" culture, even outside major urban centres.
