Only A Few Days Left to Sign the Petition: Health Canada Must Ban Neonics NOW!

Published on

Time is running out to sign the petition calling on Health Canada to ban neonicotinoid pesticides (neonics), which kill not only honeybees, but many more species than was thought, including birds, earthworms and aquatic insects at the base of the food chain. They are a major worldwide threat to biodiversity and ecosystems.

Dr. Jean-Marc Bonmatin, vice-chair of the Task Force on Systemic Pesticides, recently raised the alarm: “Sadly, we have to see this as part of the sixth mass extinction of wildlife on Earth, which is unfolding quickly. When humans destroy biodiversity, they generally destroy the ‘higher’ species like rhinoceroses and other mammals. Pesticides are destroying the base of the food chain, the very foundations of biodiversity on Earth.”
