Slow Death by Rubber Duck authors launch new book in Montreal

Actu - Conférence le 29 janvier: comment sortir les produits chimiques nocifs de nos vies

Join us for a lunch-hour talk by Rick Smith and Bruce Lourie, two Canadian environmental leaders who offer advice for removing toxic chemicals from our bodies and homes.

There are more than 80,000 synthetic chemicals in commerce today (endocrine disrupters, pesticides, heavy metals and air pollutants). Based on various experiments, the authors of Toxin Toxout demonstrate how easily we absorb these chemicals.

Drawing on their latest book, Toxin Toxout, and their international bestseller, Slow Death by Rubber Duck: How the Toxic Chemistry of Everyday Life Affects Our Health, the authors suggest practical (and sometimes surprising) ways to eliminate these products from our bodies and our lives.

Investigating such pathways as organic foods as a detox method, improving air quality, and how we dispose of toxic waste, the two speakers offer a real prescription for a healthier life.

When: Wednesday, January 29, from 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m.
Where: Centre for Sustainable Development (better known by its official name, Maison du développement durable), 50 Ste-Catherine St. West, St Urbain room (2nd floor)
Length: One hour (including questions)

Talk will be given in English.
