The Institutions Eat Local! event is back for a 5th edition!

From September 25 to October 1st, 2023, Institutions across Quebec are invited to organize events in their community to promote the importance of discovering, preparing and sampling Quebec products!

A full week of activities

Last year, more than two hundred institutions joined the movement and nearly 40,000 people took part in the event. Institutions are free to organize the desired number of activities, as local harvest menu, culinary workshop, tasting of little-known products, thematic activity, colouring, game and fun activity, pop-up market, self-picking food, meeting with a farmer, training, conferences, workshops, and even more.

Who can participate?

This event is intended for all institutional establishments, both private and public:

  1. Early childhood services (childcare centres and daycares)
  2. Schools (preschool to university level)
  3. Vocational and Technical Educational Institution
  4. Healthcare establishments (hospitals, CHSLDs)
  5. Workplaces
  6. Living environments (residences for seniors, youth centers, housing, rehabilitation center, etc.)
  7. Not-for-profit, community, recreational or organizations promoting healthy lifestyles
  8. Companies, agrifood suppliers or distributors

Good reasons to take part!

Institutions Eat Local! is an opportunity to raise the profile of your institution, forge links with local biofood players and identify opportunities for improvement in your supply chain. The Tables de concertation bioalimentaire in various regions of Quebec (TCBQ) can also help you organize your event and put you in touch with local producers and processors. Contest: $10,000 in participation prizes to be won!

Establishments participating in the event may also be eligible for various prizes for a total amount of $10,000

  • 2 participation prizes worth $1,000 will be offered to institutions whose activity is selected as a “favourite” by Aliments du Québec and Équiterre.
  • 2 participation prizes worth $500 will be drawn at random among the institutions that are members of the Aliments du Québec au menu – Institution program.
  • 14 prizes of $500 will be awarded to participants drawn at random.
