If you want to eat local all year round, canned, frozen or pickled vegetables from Quebec are the perfect solution. They’re practical, tasty and nutritious. In partnership with the Fédération québécoise des fruits et légumes de transformation [Quebec federation of processed fruits and vegetables] and Bonduelle North America inc., Équiterre has just developed fact sheets about eating local produce all year round.

The vegetables, grown and processed in Quebec, are picked when ripe and extremely fresh, and processed quickly to ensure top quality. Free of additives and preservatives, canned and quick-frozen food is now considered the most nutritious! Be sure to rinse any canned products with added salt carefully before eating.

The fact sheets list (in French only) : the benefits of quick-frozen and canned vegetables, describe how to tell if they’re from Quebec and offer preparation and cooking tips. You can also find out how certain processing companies stand out for their sustainabilty practices
