Équiterre honoured as one of this year’s Tides Top 10

Montréal, March 7th 2013 – Annually since 2003, Tides Canada has acknowledged ten of the nation’s most innovative and forward-thinking projects and organizations, demonstrating outstanding leadership, vision and impact in addressing pressing environmental and social challenges.

This year Équiterre has been recognized for its work in the following categories: Social Inclusion and Civic Engagement, Climate and Energy, Food and Health.

"It's a great honor for us to receive this award with such an incredible array of organizations and projects. This award comes at a very opportune moment for Équiterre since we are celebrating our 20th anniversary!" said Sidney Ribaux, Executive Director of Équiterre.

"We share this award with all of our staff, but also our volunteers and supporters who have contributed to make us what we are today" said Steven Guilbeault, Senior Director of Équiterre, who attended the Tides Top 10 event last night in Toronto.

“Creating outcomes that work for both people and our planet is tough work” said Ross McMillan, President and CEO of Tides Canada, “but each and every one of the Tides Top 10 is doing just that – they are building the cutting-edge solutions that Canada needs now and for a resilient future.”

Équiterre helps build a social movement by encouraging individuals, organizations and governments to make ecological and equitable choices, in a spirit of solidarity. We see the everyday choices we all make - food, transportation, housing, gardening, shopping - as an opportunity to change the world, one step at a time.

Tides Canada is the country’s largest public foundation dedicated to the environment and social justice – a network that connects an ecosystem of donors and doers who care about our future, our people and our environment.
