Quebec's Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food (MAPAQ) launched a pilot program supporting multi-functionality in agriculture. The program – which recognizes the social, economic and environmental contribution of agriculture to the quality of community life – will fund individual or group projects that benefit farms and their surrounding communities, e.g.:
- improve pasture land
- increase attractiveness
- increase accessibility to rural spaces
- preserve our agricultural heritage
- protect biodiversity
- provide services to the community
